Hear O Israel…

Rocket fire from Gaza is all too familiar in communities of southern Israel. One of the attacks took place during the Rosh HaShanah holiday in Sderot. As rockets landed near their school, hundreds of terrorized children cowered under their desks. They were directed to recite the prayer from Deuteronomy 6:4: “Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one!” Children are well trained and know what to do in the event of an attack as they undergo regular drills in their schools.

Most of the rocket attacks cause damage to buildings and cars in the vicinity and send people to hospitals. In schools, educational psychologists visit immediately each classroom to speak with the children.

According to a study conducted by the Natal Trauma Center for victims of terror and war, 70% of the children living in Sderot are suffering from at least one symptom of PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). One-third of all Sderot residents suffer from anxiety and have trouble functioning in daily life.

In addition to regular assistance and home visits to attack victims, our projects also provides school packs for children of families whose financial situation is affected by the rocket attacks. The children are always most thankful for your love and care. We sincerely thank you for all the support you have provided for these communities and trust that you will continue standing with us for their survival.
